Agriculture Enhancement in Aravali

Agriculture Enhancement

RBKS works across areas that are known for an undulating highland terrain. With an aim of improving the agricultural productivity in the particular area, the organization started educating farmers in the area about the productive use of sloping land in Aravali region for cultivation. The organization helps farmers in implementing sloping agriculture land technology (SALT) for agriculture and successfully managed to convert 50 hectares of agricultural land to cultivate using sloping land agricultural technology in five villages in Jhadol that impacts 78 families in the region.

SALT Project

The use of SALT is instrumental in enhancing the agricultural productivity in the area and included activities like fencing, SWC measures, advance hedgerow works, plantations and visits to successful SALT projects in the country. Owing to the efforts made by RBKS, tribal community has been accustomed to the use of Hedgerow and liquid manuring tank for cultivation.

Currently, RBKS boasts of being the nodal agency working to promote SALT across tribal regions in the districts of Ratlam and Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh. The organization is appointed as a nodal agency by the Canadian High Commission under a special project for promoting setting up of village action group for the management of natural resources using sloping land agricultural techniques in tribal regions of Madhya Pradesh. The SALT promotion project is facilitated by Agro-forestry Society.

LEISA

The project aims at setting up ten dedicated village action groups for popularizing low external input sustainable agricultural (LEISA) techniques and improving the knowledge base of these action groups to promote SALT & LIESA techniques among the tribal population in the region. RBKS is committed to making the project successful by working closely and actively with 10 partner NGOs working in the region with an aim to improve the livelihood of poor tribal folk in the region and bring them to the main stream.
