Drought Mitigation Project
This project was started in June 2001, in Nala Bada village. Wells for India (U.K) financially supports the project. 115 families derive benefit from this project. This project aims to develop the existing human and natural resources of the area such that the improved resource conditions help in the improvement of over all living condition of the people on a sustainable basis. (Wells for India (U.K), In Partnership with AFPRO, Udaipur.
The major activities under this project are related to developing land & water resources including gully plugs/nalla bunds, stonewall terrace, staggered trenches, cattle trough and hand pumps. The project envisages a good involvement & participation of local inhabitants. In order to build up the capacity of local people, NRM camp, SHG training, Agriculture training, exposure was organized on the basis of participatory management.
The results of field bund were quite explicit during this drought year, when most of the adjoining were facing crop failure the production from these lands are reported as to have regular production. Pumpkin, tomatoes, ladyfinger, and bottle guard are promoted under with five families& now this year 30 families are growing these vegetables and fruits.
