Child Development Initiatives

RBKS - CCF Child Development Project
RBKS CCF CDP Kotra project of Child Sponsorship project started in association with CCF India to support child development in remote regions of three Panchayat Zed; Mandwa and Kukawas. Kotra is most under developed block of Rajasthan as per the census data 2001. This project strengthens RBKS mission of “Improvement in the quality of life of people through education, awareness and formation of people’s organizations, NRM for greater self-reliant society” and is enhancing reach of CCF to deprived children.
The project is operational in eighteen villages spread over in 87 hamlets constituted of 2507 households with a population of 14382 showing an average family size of 5.3 members. The area is part of tribal dominated Kotra block in Udaipur District, bordering Sirohi district in west and the state of Gujarat in South. The area forms the south-western fringes of Aravalli hills. The main Target of this project is to provide development opportunities to 2000 tribal children. To attend this we have set following specific objectives
• To create growth opportunities for children of remote tribal community
• Increased education opportunities for school going, dropout, and left out children.
• Increased access to health facilities, better nutrition habits and safe drinking water
• Assisting 2000 vulnerable families in raising their livelihood economics so as to help them bring up their children.

RBKS CCF Child Development Project is a child centered integrated development program. Under this program following activities are under taken till now
• Identification of Deprived, Exploited and Vulnerable children and families.
• Filling of CIF (Child Development Format) for 1100 children of 18 villages.
• Prepare Micro level Planning for better planning and implementation of program.
• Attended Development fair SPANDAN 2005 at Bhubneshwar Orisa for know about activities, learning’s and findings of other organization.
• Regular immunization of Mother and child – 11 Villages
• General Health Check up Camp – 11 Villages
• 75 extra children get nutritional support in three CLERC Centers being run by RBKS.
• Organized Essay and Drawing Competition at Six schools.
• 16 Dai ‘s (Birth Attendant) Trained
• Awareness building of villagers on Reproductive Child Health (RCH), Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), Health and Sanitation.
• Distribution of TLM items at 3 primary school.

Creche Centers
Creche Centers at Parevi and Jhadol villages have been established since 1988 with support from Social Welfare Advisory Board, Government of Rajasthan. 70 children were provided with elementary education during the year. This is the tenth year of Balwadi Program at Jotana and Godawara . The program is aimed at providing good nutrition, inculcation of clean, healthy habits and promoting education. This program is presently supporting 70 children between 4 to 6 years in these villages and is being supported by the World Food Program (WFP).

Special Child Labour Rehabilitation Centers
Since 1996 RBKS is associated with the Udaipur Child Labour Society in Child Labour Eradication program of the Government of India. Earlier RBKS operated four centers in Jhadol block of Udaipur districts and presently it has opened five centers at village Sarli, Andatphala, Thala, Kodarmal and Rupni in Kotra block and Jhanjher Ki Pal Jhadol block. These centers are working towards rehabilitation of 300 children in the remote hilly hamlets of Jhadol & Kotra block.75 Children from Andatfala, Kodermal and Rupani Center additionally attending the school with the support of CCF India. Thus 375 child labour are getting benefit under this program.
Besides centers run by RBKS in Rajasthan, it has also facilitated Child Labour Special Schools in Ratlam and Khargone districts of Madhya Pradesh. The schools are operated by Kopal Paryavaran and Social Vikas Sansthan (KPSVS)
Child Labour Schools at Chittaurgarh; and Dungarpur
RBKS initiated its activities in Chittorgarh & Dungarpur district also. In this continuation it is going to start child Labour Rehabilitation Center. These centers are sanctioned by the District Collector and from the coming educational session it will be started.

Orphan Home
The Complex social system of tribal in the area and natural calamities leave many a children without parents. As a social responsibility towards these children government of Rajasthan have a scheme of orphan home units of twenty five children. RBKS is given responsibility of operating two units one each for orphan boys and girls twenty each. Department and RBKS identify the children
